Not really my usual territory - I'm more of an SHC man myself - but this caught my eye browsing through.
Few questions before everyone gets too excited:
Was it actually hovering or just moving very slowly? There's a big difference and eyewitnesses regularly conflate the two, especially at night when there's no reference point.
What were the weather conditions? I'm over in Shropshire so I can't verify anything about I-70 obviously, but I've learned from years of investigating strange phenomena that atmospheric conditions do odd things to lights and shapes. Was there cloud cover? Fog?
How long did the sighting last? The really compelling cases tend to involve prolonged observation, not just a few seconds of confusion.
Also - and I'll probably get pelters for asking this - has anyone actually ruled out military? The triangular craft reports have been doing the rounds since the 80s and a fair chunk turned out to be classified projects. The B-2 spooked a lot of people before anyone knew what it was.
I'm genuinely curious rather than trying to debunk. Did anyone manage any footage? Even shaky phone video tells you something about distance and movement that eyewitness accounts often can't. What direction was it travelling when it eventually moved off?
