Didn't see it myself but I've been following big cat sightings in the West Midlands and Welsh borders for a few years now and Shropshire keeps coming up more than people realise. There's a cluster of reports around the Long Mynd going back to the early 2000s that never got proper attention.
What colour exactly? I know the thread says black but was it that deep matte black or more like a very dark brown in certain light? That distinction matters quite a bit for working out what species we might be looking at. Melanistic leopard versus a large feral domestic hybrid behave and move very differently.
If you got any kind of size reference against a fence or treeline that would be brilliant. Even an approximate shoulder height helps narrow things down. Would love to hear more details from anyone else in the area who spotted something.
