Mate, yes. The one we had in Whitby last March knocked out power in a dead straight line from the harbour up through the old town, lasted exactly 11 minutes, then came back. Every light on my street flickered twice before it cut fully, like something was testing the grid first. My neighbour works for the council and when I asked him about it he just sort of changed the subject really fast which obviously made me more suspicious not less.
The "scheduled maintenance" excuse never sat right with me either because they usually give you notice for that and we got absolutely nothing through the door beforehand. Makes you wonder what draws that much power in the first place that they need to essentially borrow from the whole neighbourhood without asking. Anyone else clocked a pattern with teh timing, like whether it lines up with anything else going on in the sky that night?
