It's nearly November, the dark nights are settling in proper, and I'm gearing up for serious investigation season. One thing nobody talks about is the absolute necessity of decent snacks when you're standing about in the cold at midnight waiting for something weird to happen.

My personal ranking:

1) Thermos of hot chocolate (non-negotiable)
2) Digestive biscuits (anything fancy gets soggy in the bag)
3) Beef jerky (doesn't freeze, doesn't attract wildlife)
4) Haribo (emergency morale boost)

I've learned the hard way that proper nutrition makes investigations better. You're alert, you notice things, you don't hallucinate from cold and exhaustion (which is half the problem with half the paranormal reports out there if I'm honest).

What's everyone else's field rations? Surely I'm not the only one who treats investigations like a proper expedition?

Thermos of coffee for me, plus a proper packed meal. You can't investigate properly on an empty stomach - your mind does weird things, especially at night. I've definitely mistaken hunger for paranormal activity before.

Flask of tea, packet of Rich Tea biscuits, and a flask of soup if it's really cold. Keeps you warm from the inside out. Never understood people doing investigations without proper provisions. You're basically guaranteeing poor observation if you're miserable and cold.

Mate, the real paranormal phenomenon is watching people convince themselves they've seen ghosts when they're actually experiencing hypothermia and low blood sugar. Good shout on the snacks.

Honestly, night investigations should be treated like proper fieldwork. Warm clothing, adequate food, water, and emergency supplies. Half the 'experiences' people report would vanish if they were actually comfortable and well-fed. Not saying there's no genuine phenomenon, but the conditions definitely affect perception.
