Can we get an 'Equipment Marketplace' subforum? Buying/selling used paranormal gear is a pain right now

Hi admins, I've been on Quirk Reports for about three years now and I've got a suggestion that I think would genuinely improve the community.

Every month I see threads scattered across the forums with people trying to buy, sell, or trade paranormal investigation equipment - thermal cameras, EMF meters, night vision gear, audio recorders, etc. Currently these get buried in 'General Discussion' or shoehorned into 'Equipment Guides' where they don't belong.

There's clearly demand. I've personally sold three thermal cameras to community members and bought a used motion sensor rig, but it's been messy trying to coordinate. An actual Marketplace subforum with verified sellers, price guides, and maybe a basic escrow system would make this way easier and safer.

Would this be feasible? I'm aware it adds admin overhead, but I think it'd become one of the most active forums on the site. Thoughts?

Love this suggestion. As a mod on the site, I can tell you we've been talking about this internally. The challenge is managing scams and fraud without overloading volunteer moderators. But you're right - there's genuine demand. I'll raise it with the admin team. If we implement it, we'd need basic seller verification and maybe a dispute resolution system.

Yes please. I've been burned twice buying used equipment through PM because there was no accountability. A proper marketplace with feedback scores would solve that. I'd be happy to help moderate if you need volunteers.

Good idea in theory, but will it just become eBay? I'm more interested in the forum staying as a knowledge and discussion space. Marketplace stuff inevitably attracts low-effort posts and haggling. Maybe just a weekly sticky thread for sales instead?

That's exactly the kind of activity a proper forum feature would facilitate. Weekly sticky threads would be better than scattered posts everywhere, but a dedicated marketplace is more discoverable and easier to search through later.

This would be brilliant. I've got a thermal camera and two EMF meters I'd love to sell to community members who'd actually use them properly, rather than listing them on generic sites where they go to Instagram paranormal cosplayers. A community marketplace makes sense.
