Borley Rectory - why the coverage dies off after October every year

Right, so I've been down the research rabbit hole on Borley Rectory (as you do on a Thursday night with a decent ale), and I've noticed something odd. The majority of paranormal incidents documented there seem to cluster around autumn and winter months, particularly October through January. After February, activity reports drop off dramatically.

Has anyone else noticed this seasonal pattern? I'm wondering if it's just that:

a) People are more likely to visit haunted locations when it's dark earlier (obvs)
b) There's genuine seasonal variation in activity
c) The whole thing's been massively exaggerated and we're just seeing confirmation bias

Planning a trip up to Essex in late October to do some proper investigation. Would love to hear if anyone's experienced similar patterns at other locations.

Good shout. I reckon it's mostly (a) if I'm honest - darker nights = spookier atmosphere = people more willing to believe odd noises are ghosts rather than pipes. But that said, I visited Pendle Hill in December a few years back and absolutely felt something wrong about the place. Could've been the cold though.

The Bodmin Moor cryptid sightings follow the same pattern actually. More reports in autumn/winter when folks are out shooting or walking dogs. Summer you'd think you'd see more, but nope. Fewer people arsing about in the countryside when it's nice out.

Borley Rectory's been demolished for decades mate. Pretty sure any 'activity' now is just tourists getting spooked by the dark and their own imaginations. Though I suppose that's part of the fun innit.

Seasonal activity is absolutely a thing with hauntings. Winter solstice especially - veil between worlds is thinner blah blah. There's actually decent folklore backing this up. I'd definitely join your investigation if you're serious about it. Have you got EMF equipment sorted?
