Alright, I'm fed up with the Netflix rubbish - all jump scares and manufactured drama. I want to watch something that actually treats the subject matter seriously, preferably with a British perspective. I've already binged all the old Derren Brown stuff and most of the vintage In Search of... episodes.

What's everyone's recommendation? I've got a lazy Sunday ahead and a decent stash of tea and biscuits.

The BBC's A Stitch in Time documentary about the Pendle witches is absolutely brilliant - proper historical investigation mixed with paranormal context. And if you can track down the old Kilburn Poltergeist doc from the 80s, it's genuinely creepy without being sensationalist.

Honestly mate, most paranormal documentaries are nonsense because they're made by people who've already decided what the answer is. If you want something actually worth watching, try academic documentaries about folklore instead. The History of Witchcraft series on iPlayer is legitimately fascinating and treats it intellectually.

The old Unsolved Mysteries episodes with Robert Stack still hold up remarkably well. They don't try to explain everything, they just present the facts and let you make up your mind. That's the format we need more of.

For something truly weird and British, look up the documentary about the Moberly-Jourdain Versailles incident. It's not strictly paranormal but it's one of the most credible historical anomalies nobody talks about. Really well done BBC production too.
