Anyone regularly visit the abandoned station on the Piccadilly Line? Very strange activity reported.

I know most of the abandoned London Underground stations are technically off-limits and you need permission to visit them, but some of them are semi-accessible depending on how determined you are.

There's been chatter on some urban exploration forums about Aldwych station (closed 1994, but occasionally used for film shoots and maintenance access) having unusual activity. Specifically: sounds of trains running on the rails (when there shouldn't be anything), voices at odd times, and a feeling of being watched in the central platform area.

I'm trying to get a group together to do a proper paranormal investigation there before - or if - they eventually demolish it for redevelopment. Obviously we'd need to do it legally, which means paying for proper access through one of the heritage tour companies.

Has anyone actually been there and noticed anything strange? Or am I building a false narrative around an old, creepy building because old buildings are inherently creepy?

Aldwych is genuinely unsettling even with the lights on and staff present. I did one of the official heritage tours and even the tour guide mentioned that staff have reported unusual stuff. Nothing dramatic - just unexplained noises, equipment malfunctions, a general atmosphere of unease.

The London Underground has an absolutely massive amount of paranormal lore attached to it. Probably because it's literally a network of tunnels beneath the oldest city in Britain, many built on sites of former burial grounds or sites of historical tragedy. I'd be shocked if Aldwych *wasn't* haunted given the circumstances.

Honestly, this. Aldwych is creepy because it's a defunct railway station, full of shadows and decay. That doesn't require ghosts to explain. That said, investigation would be cool regardless of paranormal activity for the historical value alone.

If you're organizing this, I'm interested in joining. I've got some decent EMF meters and a thermal camera that might pick up something if there's unusual activity. Just organize it properly through an official heritage tour operator so we're not actually breaking any laws.

The old Underground stations are fascinating but they're also just acoustically weird. The tunnel structure and the age of the architecture means sounds carry strangely, you get echoes that seem to come from nowhere, the air pressure changes can make people feel unsettled. All of that creates a perfect storm for paranormal interpretation.
