So the committee's organised another in-person gathering for this summer (July, dates TBD). Manchester this time, which is decent for access if you're down south. I went to the London one two years ago and actually found it genuinely useful - met some intelligent people, heard some fascinating accounts, got to do a mini investigation at Pendle afterwards.

But I'm wondering how many people are actually planning to go? And what would make it worth the trip? Last year's was a bit thin on the ground according to the reports - lots of lurkers but not many actual attendees.

I'm thinking of doing a presentation about digital photo analysis techniques if there's interest. Could be useful for people who're trying to investigate properly rather than just collecting blurry pictures. Would that be something people would want?

Who's in?

I'm definitely interested. The London meet was brilliant - got to talk to people face-to-face instead of typing on a forum. Digital photo analysis would be massively useful, yeah. Count me in.

I'd go but July is family holiday time for me unfortunately. Any chance of a September or October event instead? Loads of people probably skip summer because of school holidays and travel plans.

Manchester's alright but the London events always feel more populated because London has more members in the Southeast. Why not do a regional approach - Northern event in Manchester, midlands somewhere central, Southwest perhaps Exeter area? Might get better attendance overall.

your digital photo analysis presentation
Yes please. That's actual useful content that I could apply to investigations I'm planning. Not just anecdotes but actual technical skills. That would genuinely be worth attending for.

I'd go but honestly I'm a bit nervous about revealing my location/real identity in person. I know that's paranoid but given some of the surveillance stuff discussed here, I'd rather stay anonymous. Anyone else feel that way? Maybe there's a way to do it more securely?

Only if there's a proper agenda and speakers. Last year felt a bit like a convention with no actual structure. Just people standing around talking. If you're doing presentations and organizing things properly, I'll make the effort. Otherwise it's just a meetup of internet randoms.
