Been following the Ozark Howler reports for about eight years now and yeah, there does seem to be an uptick over the last 18 months or so. A few clusters around the Arkansas/Missouri border specifically that I've been tracking. What's interesting to me is how consistent the vocalisations are being described - that low, rumbling howl with an almost cattle-like quality to it. That particular detail keeps appearing independently across reports from people who almost certainly haven't compared notes.
The sceptic in me wants to attribute the increase to better documentation tools, everyone's got a decent mic on thier phone now. But the geographical clustering doesn't really support a simple "more people reporting" explanation. You'd expect it to be more evenly distributed.
Has anyone here got access to the MUFON-adjacent cryptid databases? I know some researchers have started cross-referencing Howler reports with unusual livestock deaths in the region and I'd love to see that data properly analysed rather than just the anecdotal summaries floating around.
Anyone on here from the Ozarks region who's been monitoring this locally?
