Not from the Pacific Northwest myself but we do get melanistic grey squirrels over here in parts of England and they look absolutely jet black, proper striking to see. So it can be a natural colour variation rather than anything exotic. That said I'd still want to know more about the sighting - was it noticeably bigger than a normal squirrel? Different shaped tail or ears? Sometimes the details are what makes it interesting. Anyone else on here from that region who can say whether black squirrels are a common thing there or not? Would love to know if this is a known local population or genuinely a one off.
Anyone else seen a jet black squirrel in the Pacific Northwest or is that normal?
