Anyone else seen a black cat the size of a large dog roaming around rural Kentucky?

Not my area really but this caught my eye because I remember reading about big cat sightings in rural Wales a few years back and the descriptions were almost identical - massive black cat, way too big to be a domestic, moving low to the ground like it knew exactly what it was doing.

The thing I always wonder with these reports is whether its escaped exotic pets or something genuinely unknown. Kentucky's got a lot of wilderness so either seems plausible to me.

Did you actually see it yourself or is this second hand? And roughly how big are we talking - like labrador sized or more like a panther? Would love to know if anyone else in that area has reported it to wildlife authorities and what response they got.

@BolshyHeron the Wales connection is interesting actually. We get similar reports here in Hampshire fairly regularly and the descriptions always match up - jet black, shoulder height way above what any domestic cat could achieve, long heavy tail. Theres a genuine pattern across rural UK that suggests a breeding population of something, probably escaped melanistic leopards or pumas from the 70s when the Dangerous Wild Animals Act forced a lot of private owners to release their cats rather than pay for licencing. Kentucky having the same thing wouldnt surprise me at all given how many private collectors there were in the US with no real regulation.
