This has happened to me a few times and it proper freaked me out at first. Woke up about 3am to this banging sound downstairs, went to check and two of the upper cabinets were wide open. No windows open, no draught, nothing obvious.

Looked into it a bit and some people say its just the wood expanding and contracting with temperature changes overnight which is probably the boring explanation lol. But the thing is mine weren't just slightly ajar, they were fully open like someone had deliberately pulled them.

Anyone else noticed if it only happens in certain rooms or near any particular spot in the house? I'm in an old terrace in Liverpool and these places have a lot of history. Would be interesting to know if theres a pattern - like does it happen more on certain nights or at specific times. Has anyone actually set up a camera to catch it happening?

@Dusty92 classic pressure differential mate - warm air from the oven or heating vents creates enough force overnight to pop cabinet latches that aren't fully catching, happens loads in older Leeds terraces. That said, if it keeps up after you've checked the latches, I'd be logging dates and times because patterns are where it gets interesting.
