Mate this is literally my wheelhouse, except mine was the bathroom cupboard which is somehow worse because nobody wants a poltergeist watching them brush their teeth at 3am.

Seriously though the 3am thing keeps coming up in these reports and I've never been fully convinced its just "thin place in time" stuff, I reckon theres something about the way houses settle overnight combined with whatever energy is floating about that creates the right conditions. Or the entity just really wants a biscuit. One of the two.

Has anyone actually tried leaving the cabinets open before bed to see if something else happens instead? I did it once with the bathroom cupboard and nothing moved but all my shampoo bottles were facing the wrong way in the morning which freaked me out more honestly.

@BrandiRelic the 3am thing is genuinely one of the most documented patterns in poltergeist reports, theres a reason its sometimes called the "devil's hour" - atmospheric pressure drops, the house settles differently, and if there IS an intelligent presence it seems to be more active when your brain is in that half-asleep hypnagogic state and more receptive to noticing things. Cabinet hinges also expand and contract with temperature which explains maybe 80% of these cases tbh. The other 20% though... keep a log with timestamps and note whether anyone in the house was stressed or going through something emotionally, poltergeist activity has a really strong correlation with psychological tension in the household, especially teenagers or anyone under significant pressure.
