Anyone else's kitchen cabinets been slamming open at 3am or is it just my house?

Right so this is genuinely one of those things that makes me feel less alone because YES. Not cabinets specifically but in my old flat in Whitby I had a drawer in the kitchen that would slide open on its own, always around that 3am window. Every single time. My flatmate refused to sleep with his bedroom door open after a while.

The 3am thing is what gets me. Too consistent to be random settling or temperature changes or whatever the sceptics always wheel out. Houses dont just decide to do weird stuff at the exact same time every night for weeks.

Have you tried logging it? Like just keeping a note on your phone of the exact time and what happened? Patterns are everything with this kind of thing and if you ever want to take it further (or just prove to yourself you're not losing the plot) having a record helps massively. Would also be curious whether anyone else in the house has noticed it or if its always just you.

@AbyssalWendigo the Whitby connection is interesting actually - that whole coastal strip has a lot of reported poltergeist activity going back centuries.

What I've always wondered with cabinet/drawer stuff is whether there's a pattern to it? Like does it happen at the same time every night, or is it random? Because I've read that genuine poltergeist activity tends to cluster around specific times whereas if its just house settling or vibrations from traffic it'll be more random. The 3am thing keeps coming up so much in these reports that there has to be something to it. Anyone got a way of actually tracking this properly rather than just going off memory?
