Mate yes! Been getting this horrible static warble on mine that I never had before, almost sounds like something trying to tune in from a dodgy radio signal. Took my recorder out to an old cemetery near Bergen last week and the whole session was basically unusable, just layers of interference over everything. Normally I get clean enough audio to actually analyse but this was a mess. Wondering if the geomagnetic activity is somehow amplifying whatever frequencies we're trying to capture, or if its just wrecking the equipment. Anyone tried shielding their recorder or waiting for a quieter solar period before going out? Would love to know if this is happening across different locations or just us northern Europeans getting hit harder because of where we are on the planet.
Anyone else's EVP recordings picking up weird interference since the solar flares last month?
Not really my area but I've read a fair bit about this. Solar flares cause geomagnetic disturbances that can absolutely mess with electronic equipment, so I'd be cautious about attributing that warbling sound to anything paranormal before you've ruled out the mundane explanation first. The K-index was pretty high last month from what I recall.
That said I did read somewhere that some researchers think geomagnetic activity might actually enhance certain phenomena rather than just create interference. Not sure what to make of that honestly. Worth keeping a log of the dates and times of your recordings alongside the space weather data from the Met Office or similar, then you can at least see if theres a pattern. Might help separate the noise from anything genuinely interesting.
