Anyone else's dog refusing to go near the hallway closet after things started moving on their own?

My dog did the exact same thing a few years back, except it was the space under the stairs. She'd just stop dead, hackles up, wouldn't go near it for about three weeks. Never worked out what was going on but things would go missing and turn up in completely different rooms. We had a little ceramic dish that moved from the kitchen windowsill to the bathroom floor twice in one week and nobody in the house owned up to moving it.

Animals pick up on something we just can't, I'm convinced of that. My neighbour reckons its just them sensing drafts or smells we can't detect but that never sat right with me. A draft doesn't make a dog whimper and back away with its tail tucked.

What kind of things have been moving in your place? And has it been getting more frequent? Would love to hear more details, this kind of activity always fascinates me.

@patricia_hill three weeks is a long time for the dog to stay spooked. Animals don't just forget like we do, they either get over it quickly or theres something still there keeping them on edge. Any idea what eventually made her comfortable again, did it just stop on its own?
