Never really looked into poltergeists much myself, my area is more NDE research, but this caught my eye because my neighbour was going on about strange noises in her house last month and it happened to coincide with that big storm we had up here in Sheffield.
Probably coincidence. Old houses make a lot of noise in bad weather, pipes and roof timbers and what have you. I'm quite sceptical about attributing things to paranormal causes when there's a perfectly mundane explanation sitting right there.
That said I'm curious what others think the mechanism would even be. Is it supposedly something about electrical charge in the atmosphere, or barometric pressure? Because if there's actual data behind this rather than just people noticing patterns after the fact, that would be more interesting to me. Anyone got anything concrete or is it mostly anecdotal?
