Been going through them this past week and yeah, something's off. The redactions aren't uniform. Some of it looks like standard FOIA blackout but there's a whole section in the subproject 68 adjacent documents where the redaction pattern is different - heavier, almost frantic looking if that makes sense. Like someone made a second pass at it.
What gets me is the timing. Why release these now and why this batch specifically. Forty years of sitting on them and suddenly we get a partial dump with chunks missing that weren't missing in earlier declassifications.
Had a mate in Suffolk CID back in the day, retired now, and he always said the shape of what's hidden tells you as much as what they let through. I keep coming back to that with these files.
Anyone cross-referenced the new batch against the Church Committee transcripts from the 70s. Because I did and theres at least three references that should have corresponding documents in this release and they're simply not there.
