Bit of a long shot but does anyone know if there were any scheduled military exercises or satellite launches that night? I'm not near Lake Erie obviously, I'm down in Cornwall, but I've been trying to cross-reference similar sightings from the same date and I'm hitting a dead end with the usual sources.
The reason I ask is that a few years back we had something similar over the coast here and it turned out to be linked to a launch window nobody had publicised locally. Took weeks to track down the explanation and even then it felt a bit thin.
Did the lights move in formation or was it more of a hovering thing? That detail tends to matter a lot when you're trying to rule stuff out.
