Didn't see this personally since I'm down in New Orleans, but I've got a mate in Milwaukee who mentioned something similar around that timeframe. He's not really into any of this stuff so he wouldn't have fabricated it or exaggerated for effect, which is what made me take notice.
What exactly were the movement patterns like? That's usually the first thing I try to pin down with lake sightings because the reflective surface can do strange things to conventional aircraft lights, but hovering kind of rules out the easy explanations. Were they stationary for extended periods or just moving unusually slow? And did anyone else in the area report anything to MUFON or the local news? Trying to figure out if this lines up with what my friend described or if we're looking at two separate incidents.
