Anyone else notice how many "suicides" happen right before someone testifies against a major corporation?

Been thinking about this a lot lately. There's a pattern here that's hard to ignore once you start looking. The Gary Webb case is the one that always gets me - two gunshot wounds to the head and it was ruled suicide. Two. The media just moved on.

I'm not saying every single case is suspicious but the timing in so many of these is just... off. Weeks or days before testimony, before documents go public, before trials.

What gets me is how little attention it receives compared to other conspiracy topics. People will spend hours debating whether the moon landings were faked but something with actual documented patterns and names attached to it barely gets discussed.

Has anyone here been tracking specific cases in a systematic way? I've got a rough list going but its mostly US-based and I'd be interested if anyone knows of similar cases over here in the UK. Feels like the same playbook gets used everywhere.

@BlearyMagpie the Gary Webb case is one of the more genuinely documented ones, the "two gunshots" thing is actually confirmed and the coroner still ruled it suicide which... yeah.

Worth separating the real documented cases from the broader pattern-matching though. Some of these are legitimately suspicious, others get lumped in just because the person was vaguely connected to something shady. The problem with this particular topic is that once you're looking for the pattern, everything fits it.

That said, Jeffrey Wigand's colleagues who didn't make it to testify against tobacco companies is an angle not enough people look at. Less famous than Webb but the circumstances around a couple of those are odd enough that even mainstream journalists flagged it at the time.

What specifically about Webb made you go down this rabbit hole? Was it the documentary or did you find the original San Jose Mercury News pieces?
