Been thinking about this for a while actually. The Monterey Bay incidents alone should have people asking more questions. Three researchers in two years, all "equipment failures" or "unexpected medical events." Right.
The thing that gets me is how quickly these stories disappear. Local news picks it up for maybe a day, then nothing. Nobody follows up. Nobody asks who funded the facility or what the team was specifically working on before it happened.
I've been compiling a list of incidents going back to the late 90s and the pattern is hard to ignore. Doesn't matter if it's Pacific, Atlantic, even some of the Arctic research stations - same story, different names.
Anyone else actually looked into this properly or is it just me going down this rabbit hole alone? Specifically interested if anyone has connections to MBARI or the Woods Hole crowd because I suspect the really interesting stuff never even makes it to incident reports.
