After my mother passed in 2019 I started noticing small things going missing and then turning up somewhere completely different. A photograph of her moved from the mantlepiece to the kitchen windowsill twice. Nobody else in the house and I'm quite certain I hadn't moved it myself.
What gets me is that it only happened in the first few weeks after she died and then stopped. Almost like whatever it was had a purpose and once that was done, it was finished.
Has anyone else noticed a kind of time limit on this sort of activity? Whether its connected to the grieving process somehow or something more external I genuinely don't know. I've read a bit about poltergeist theory and the emotional trauma angle but I'm not fully convinced that explains the specific object being moved - why that photograph and not anything else in the room?
Would be curious to hear if others have had similar experiences, particularly whether it was always something meaningful to the deceased rather than random objects.
