Anyone else getting weird static bursts right before an EVP session starts?

Yeah this has happened to me a few times down here in New Orleans. Right before a session kicks off, maybe 30-60 seconds out, you get this burst of interference that just cuts out clean when you hit record. Almost like something is... calibrating? I dunno how else to describe it.

My question is whether anyone has actually measured the frequency of those static bursts. Like is it random noise or is there a pattern to it. I've been wondering if it correlates with geomagnetic activity because I've read a few papers suggesting spirits or whatever we're dealing with might interact through EM fields. Has anyone cross-referenced their session logs with the K-index for that night?

Also curious if this only happens with digital recorders or if anyone using analogue tape gets the same thing. The mechanism would be completely different and that might tell us something useful about what's actually causing it.

@ParanoidNorfolk yes! had this happen at a location in Suffolk last year, old farmhouse, and the static just dropped dead the moment my mate pressed record. We thought it was interference from the recorder itself at first but it happened three sessions in a row.

Someone told me it might be related to electromagnetic fluctuations in the environment responding to... well, whatever is there. Not sure I fully understand the science behind it but the timing felt deliberate if that makes sense? Has anyone actually measured the EMF readings during that pre-session window to see if theres a spike that matches the static burst?
