Anyone else getting male voices on EVP but only in the basement?

Yeah basements are weird for this. There's something about the lower frequency environment down there that seems to pull in certain types of voices - I've read a few case studies where male EVPs were almost exclusively basement or cellar recordings.

In New Orleans I've done a couple of sessions in older properties and the pattern does seem to hold. Lower spaces, older foundations, more male voices. Not sure if its the acoustics playing tricks or something genuinely different about teh energetic layer down there.

One theory I keep coming back to is that historically basements were male dominated work spaces - storage, maintenance, that kind of thing. So maybe theres just more residual male energy embedded in those areas.

What equipment are you using? And are the voices responsive or do they seem more like residual loop stuff? That distinction matters a lot for figuring out whats actually going on.
