Yeah this has been happening to me more than I'd like to admit lately. Not just the usual garbled noise you can convince yourself means anything - actual direct responses. Asked "how did you die" last autumn up on the moor and got back something that sounded unmistakably like "the cold." Clear as anything.
The sceptic in me knows about apophenia and how our brains are basically pattern-hungry little goblins, but theres a point where that explanation starts feeling more far-fetched than just accepting what you're hearing.
What equipment are you running? I've had better results with a standalone digital recorder left alone in a room than I ever have doing live sessions where you're breathing all over the thing and generating interference. The distance seems to matter somehow.
Genuinely curious whether anyone else has had responses that referenced something the investigator hadn't said aloud. That's the bit that really gets under my skin. Would love to compare notes.
