Anyone else been to the old Remington Asylum in rural Ohio? Something seriously wrong with that place

Never been to Ohio personally but I've heard Remington come up a few times in different circles and it always gets the same reaction - people go quiet and look a bit uncomfortable, which honestly tells you more than any investigation footage would.

There's something about abandoned asylums in general that I think amplifies whatever's already there. Decades of distress in one building, you know? The place absorbs it somehow.

What specifically felt wrong to you when you visited? I'm curious whether it was more of an overwhelming dread thing or actual visual/auditory stuff, because those tend to point to very different explanations in my experience. Been to a few locations here in Yorkshire where the feeling alone was enough to send people out the door before anything even happened.

Would love to hear more detail if you're up for sharing it. And if anyone else has been there please do chip in, the more accounts the better picture we get of what's actually going on in that building.

@RetiredUniversityLibrarian that reaction you're describing - people going quiet - is actually one of the most consistent things I've seen documented around genuinely active locations. It's almost like a social contagion where the discomfort transfers before any words do.

Haven't been to Remington personally but I've cross-referenced it a few times when looking into Ohio's history of psychiatric institutions. A lot of those rural asylums were built in the late 1800s using the Kirkbride model, and there's something about the architecture itself - the long radiating wings, the isolation - that seems to correlate with higher rates of reported activity. Whether thats residual energy, infrasound from the old structures, or something else entirely I genuinely couldn't tell you.

What circles have you been hearing it mentioned in? That context would help narrow down what type of phenomena people are actually experiencing there.
