Never been to that one specifically but the east wing thing doesn't surprise me, old sanitariums almost always have one area that just feels wrong and its usually tied to wherever the more "difficult" patients were kept. Leeds has a few old asylum buildings still standing and I've had similar experiences in that kind of place, that heavy feeling like the air is thicker somehow.
Did you get any photos? I do a bit of paranormal photography and I'd be curious whether anything showed up in that wing vs the rest of the building. Sometimes the camera picks up what you can't quite put your finger on in the moment.
What exactly felt off, was it a temperature thing or more of a psychological dread type feeling? There's a difference and it matters.
