Anyone else been hearing weird screaming sounds in the woods near Lake Tahoe? Not coyotes

Not been to Tahoe personally but we get the exact same thing round Pendle Hill - that high pitched shrieking that definitely isn't any animal you can easily identify. First time I heard it I nearly dropped my camera. People round here blame black dogs or whatever but honestly I reckon half these sounds are just something mundane bouncing weirdly off the terrain and messing with your head at 2am. That said, the other half probably isn't. Anyone managed to get a recording? That's always the frustrating bit, you hear it and then nothing on the audio when you play it back. Would love to compare what you're hearing with some of the Pendle stuff, geography is totally different but these reports keep popping up from woodland areas worldwide which has to mean something.
