Yes! This happened to me a couple of weeks ago at a churchyard not far from where I live in Suffolk. I was using my little Olympus recorder and got this horrible crackling sound on three separate recordings, all in the same corner near the older graves. Nowhere else in the churchyard, just that one spot.
I've been doing this for about two years now so I'm still very much learning, but I've never had static like that before. My friend who came with me didn't hear anything unusual at the time, it only showed up on playback which I thought was strange.
Is it something to do with the age of the site? Or maybe ground minerals or something more physical causing interference? I genuinely don't know. Would love to hear if others have had the same thing and what you think might be behind it.
