Never done proper EVP work myself but this caught my eye because of something that happened on Dartmoor last autumn. I had my old digital recorder out trying to capture ambient sounds near one of the ancient stone circles and right before I picked up what sounded like a low murmur on the playback, there was about two or three seconds of really harsh static. Thought it was interference from my mobile at first but I had the thing on flight mode.
I've been reading a bit about electromagnetic field fluctuations and whether they precede these kinds of captures. Some people seem to think the static is actually part of the phenomenon rather than just background noise getting in the way.
Has anyone here actually mapped out how long the static burst lasts versus when the voice or sound comes through? Like is there a consistent gap? Would love to know if others are seeing a proper pattern here or if its just coincidence on my end.
