Yes, 100%. Been noticing this for years with my recordings up in Newcastle. There's almost always a burst of white noise or a kind of crackling static about 2-3 seconds before anything coherent comes through. I used to think it was equipment interference but it happens across three completely different recorders so I've basically ruled that out now.
My working theory is that whatever is manifesting needs to draw on some kind of energy field first, and that static is the byproduct of that process. Not sure if it links to EM fluctuations or something else entirely.
Anyone mapped this against their K-II readings at the same timestamp? I've been trying to do that more systematically lately and the correlation is actually pretty striking. Would love to compare notes with people who are doing proper controlled sessions rather than just casual recordings. What kit are you all using when this happens?
