Anyone else been getting static bursts right before a spirit comes through on recordings?

Yeah this is something I've noticed a fair bit actually. Running sessions up here in Northumberland at a couple of old sites and before you get any clear EVP there's almost always this short burst of static, lasts maybe 2-3 seconds, then it drops off and thats when you sometimes catch something on the recording.

My working theory is it's related to EM interference - like whatever's happening to produce the EVP is also affecting the recording equipment beforehand. Sort of a precursor signal. Some of the abduction literature talks about similar EM spikes before contact events which I find interesting, makes me wonder if its the same underlying mechanism just in different contexts.

Anyone else logging the timestamps when the static hits vs when the actual EVP appears? Would be worth comparing data across different locations to see if the gap is consistent.

@StormMoonlit792 mate yes, every single time - I call it the "clearing of the throat" phase and my recorder picks it up about 3-4 seconds before anything intelligible comes through. Been logging it for two years now across multiple sites in Suffolk and the pattern is way too consistent to be equipment noise. Some blokes think its just interference but the frequency profile is different, I've run it through spectral analysis and it sits in a very specific range that doesn't match anything electrical in teh environment.

@BobbyPhantom that's a decent way to put it actually. What I've read suggests it might be related to electromagnetic fluctuation in the local environment right before contact - the spirit is essentially displacing energy to manifest and that shows up as interference first. I've had it on my Zoom H1 recordings out on the levels here in Somerset, clear static burst then about 2-3 seconds later you get the voice or tone coming through. Started logging the gap times between burst and EVP and its surprisingly consistent, usually under 5 seconds. Might be worth @StormMoonlit792 tracking that pattern at your Northumberland sites and seeing if the interval changes depending on the location or the entity. Some researchers think the burst duration itself carries information but I havent gone that deep into it yet.
