Yes and it's been driving me mad actually. Got a cracking session lined up last Tuesday out near the moor, recorder set up, fresh batteries, the whole lot - and about 90 seconds before I hit record there was this horrible burst of static that lasted maybe 3 or 4 seconds then just stopped dead. Nothing after that.
What gets me is I've noticed this pattern more than once now. Its like something announcing itself before the session proper kicks off. Friend of mine who does EVP work up in Yorkshire says the same thing happens to her kit.
I'm sceptical about jumping to conclusions obviously, could easily be interference from something mundane. But the timing is weirdly consistent and I'd love to know if others are logging it or just dismissing it as background noise. Anyone actually captured one of these bursts on the recording itself? That'd be the interesting bit.
