Anyone else been getting static bursts on their recorder right before an EVP shows up?

Yeah I get this all the time and nobody ever wants to talk about it properly.

Running a Zoom H5 in the back bedroom (long story, don't ask) and there's almost always this burst of white noise or crackle maybe 2-3 seconds before anything intelligible comes through. Consistent enough that I've started marking those moments in Audacity just to track the pattern.

My theory - and I know some of you will roll your eyes - is that whatever's producing the EVP is drawing on electromagnetic energy in some way. The static might be the process of it forming, not just random interference. Like hearing someone clear their throat before they speak.

Could be mundane explanations obviously. Dodgy cables, RF interference, the cat walking past. I'm not ruling that out. But I've tested with fresh cables and it still happens.

What I want to know:

Does it happen with different recorder models or just certain ones?, Has anyone actually mapped the timing between the static burst and the EVP response?, Does it happen outdoors or mainly indoors?

Been doing this about three years now, strictly amateur, and this is one of the few things that's genuinely made me think there might be something consistent worth investigating rather than just collecting random clips and posting them online.

Anyone else actually tracking this systematically or is it just me noticing patterns that aren't there?
