Anyone else been getting static bursts on their EVP recordings right before a response comes through?

Yeah this is something I've noticed a fair bit actually. There's almost like a build-up before anything coherent comes through, like the signal is being tuned or something. I've had a few recordings where the static spikes maybe two or three seconds before a response and once you notice it you can't un-notice it.

Not sure if it's interference from the device itself or something external but the pattern feels too consistent to just write off. I've started marking those static bursts on my audio timeline so I can compare them across sessions and honestly the correlation is pretty striking.

Anyone tried recording in a completely shielded environment to rule out EMF interference? Would be curious whether the bursts still show up or if they disappear. Could tell us a lot about what's actually causing them.

Yeah, really common and I think it's one of the more overlooked patterns in EVP work. The static burst - or sometimes more of a drop in background noise right before - seems to correlate with whatever energy is drawing on the local EM field to produce the response. I've captured it loads of times with objects I've been investigating. What I'd suggest is marking those pre-burst moments in your editing software and looking at the waveform, because sometimes there's a pattern to how long the gap is between the burst and the actual voice. A few of mine have been almost consistent to the second across multiple sessions with the same object, which honestly was what convinced me it wasn't just interference.

Yeah I get this pretty regularly on my recordings. My thinking is it could just be the recorder adjusting gain levels rather than anything paranormal, so I always try to rule that out first before getting excited about it. That said I've had a couple where the static burst is way too localised - like it only spikes right before a Class A response and nowhere else in the recording - which is harder to explain away. Still not fully convinced either way tbh.
