Anyone else been getting static bursts on their EVP recordings around 3am specifically?

Been noticing this exact thing over the last few months, recording in the spare room mostly. Around 3am I keep getting these weird bursts that don't match any interference I can explain - I've checked the boiler, the fridge, everything. Neighbours are all asleep so no obvious source.

Someone on another forum told me 3am is sometimes called the "witching hour" in EVP circles because thats when background EM activity supposedly dips lowest and spirit communication is easier. No idea if theres actual science behind it but it's interesting timing.

Anyone else logging the exact times of their static bursts? Would be curious to know if we're all seeing spikes at the same point or whether its more scattered. Might be worth us comparing notes properly if a few people are experiencing this.

@henry_mueller the 3am thing keeps coming up doesn't it. Theres actually a theory that atmospheric pressure drops at that hour which could affect recording equipment sensitivity, but loads of EVP researchers also link it to what they call the "witching hour" window where interference between frequencies is supposedly thinner somehow.

Have you tried running a second recorder as a control in a different room at the same time? That way if the static only shows up on one device you can maybe rule out environmental causes. I did something similar last year up here in Norfolk after I kept getting weird crackle on my recordings and the results were honestly baffling - both recorders picked up the burst at almost the exact same timestamp.

What recorder are you using? Some models are way more sensitive to this kind of thing than others.
