Been getting this a fair bit over in Somerset actually. Old churchyards especially - seems like the older the burial ground the worse the interference gets. Had a session last autumn near a 13th century site and the audio just went to absolute mush for about 40 minutes straight, no real explanation for it technically speaking.
What equipment are you all using when this happens? I've noticed it's worse with digital recorders than my old analogue kit, which is interesting because usually you'd expect digital to be cleaner. Makes me wonder if whatever is causing it interacts differently with different recording tech.
Also worth noting - does the interference follow any kind of pattern or is it random? Mine tends to cluster around dusk which could mean nothing or could mean something. Curious whether others are seeing the same or if its completely unpredictable for you. Would love to compare notes on specific locations too if anyone is from the southwest.
