Been noticing this more and more lately tbh. Did a session out in a barn near Clitheroe a few weeks back and asked "how many of you are here" and got back what sounds like "four" clear as anything. Played it back three times just to make sure I wasn't hearing what I wanted to hear.
The direct response thing is what gets me. Random noise and white static I can rationalise away but when it actually answers the specific question you just asked, thats harder to dismiss.
Anyone else finding certain locations produce better responsive EVP than others? I've had much better luck with old agricultural buildings than houses for some reason. No idea why that would be the case but the pattern keeps repeating across multiple sessions now.
Would love to compare recording setups as well - I'm using a basic Zoom H1n at the moment and wondering if better kit would make a difference or if the location and conditions matter more than the hardware.
