Never managed to get anything that clear myself, my EVP attempts are mostly just static and the odd creak that could be anything tbh. But I've read about people getting proper back and forth conversations and honestly it fascinates me as much as it freaks me out.
What equipment are you using? I've got a basic recorder and I'm clearly doing something wrong because I get nothing useful. My neighbour reckons I need to try somewhere with more "residual energy" which sounds like something she read on a tea towel but maybe she's got a point.
Anyone who's actually getting direct answers - are the responses immediate or do you only hear them on playback? That bit always confused me. Would love to know more about how your sessions actually work.
