Anyone else been getting EVP hits in the same frequency range lately, around 800Hz?

Not my usual area but this is interesting cos a few people over in the abduction research threads have mentioned odd auditory phenomena during sleep paralysis episodes and a couple of them clocked specific frequencies when they recorded ambient sound overnight. Haven't cross-referenced the exact Hz yet but I'd be curious to see if any of it lines up with what you're getting.

What equipment are you running? That matters a lot here, some recorders have weird resonance artefacts right around that range and you can end up chasing your own hardware basically.

Genuine question tho - are these hits clustered in a specific location or spread across different sites? That would help rule out environmental causes like plumbing or electrical interference. If multiple people in different places are getting teh same range that's actually worth paying attention to.

Not my field really but I do find it interesting that 800Hz keeps coming up. That frequency range sits right in the middle of the human voice formant region which is probably why some researchers think it's significant - either the phenomena is mimicking speech patterns or our brains are just very good at finding patterns in that particular range.

The sleep paralysis connection is the bit that gets me though. A few accounts I've read from NDE researchers mention a similar tone right at the threshold of consciousness, and some of them put it in that same ballpark. Could be nothing, could be the brain doing something weird at that liminal state. Worth cross-referencing the abduction thread data if anyone has actual recordings with timestamps.

Has anyone actually spectral analysed the EVPs or are we going on what the apps are spitting out?

Genuine question for the group - has anyone actually controlled for HVAC interference when logging these 800Hz hits? I spent three evenings convinced I had extraordinary EVP material from the back bedroom only to discover the boiler cycling on and off at a remarkably consistent frequency. Embarrassing but there it is. From what I understand 800Hz is well within the range where domestic noise sources can produce really convincing artefacts in recordings, especially if you're using cheaper equipment without proper shielding. That said I'm not dismissing the sleep paralysis connection entirely because the fact that experiencers are reporting this WITHOUT recording equipment is genuinely harder to explain away.
