One of our community members posted some footage from near Fort William on the 16th around 20:15 BST. I've been looking at it and I wanted to get some other eyes on it because I can't quite work out what it is.

The object is definitely in the sky. It's moving at a steady pace, very smooth, no obvious propulsion sounds (though the video's got wind noise). The shape's a bit unclear but it's definitely something solid - not a bird, not a balloon, probably not a drone based on the speed and behaviour.

What's interesting is the colour - it's kind of oscillating between white and a greenish hue. That could be atmospheric refraction, lens artifact, or compression, but I'm not sure. The video's from a phone so it's not perfect quality, but it's steady and filmed for about 90 seconds which is better than most.

I've run it through a few basic analyses and I'm not seeing obvious signs of CGI or camera tricks, but I'm no expert. Would be great to hear what the more experienced analysts think. Could be a genuinely unexplained object or something mundane, but it's worth looking at properly.

Can you share the link or footage? Hard to comment without seeing it. But the greenish hue you mention is interesting - that's not typical of planes or helicopters, and balloons don't usually move that smoothly.

Could be lens flare or the camera struggling with exposure in low light. That's my first thought. But if it's visible on steady video the whole time, that's less likely. What was the weather like? Clear sky, clouds, anything atmospheric?

The Fort William area's got a military presence nearby, yeah? Could be a helicopter or aircraft doing something unusual. Not saying that's definitely it, but worth checking what was in the airspace that day.

I've looked at loads of these and the colour-shifting is actually more common than people think. Phone cameras do weird things with moving light sources in low-light conditions. That said, the smooth movement is intriguing. Link to the footage would help though - can't really analyse without seeing it.

Where exactly near Fort William? That'll help narrow down if there's any known flight paths or military activity. And is the original poster willing to say what they think it was?

Please post the footage. This is exactly the kind of thing that gets analysed properly in this forum rather than just being shared on TikTok where everyone screams "ALIENS!"
